Your web-site is fantastic.I went to the Loreto Old Girls site, and there was a picture of Msongari, brought back memories. I am an ex Msongari student. Currently I am at Michigan State University. I am wondering what happened to Sister Thomas More. she was the principle from 1981-1994 she left for England. Couple of friends and I are serching for her. Does anyone know where she is?
Good work.

I am a second generation Kenyan of Indian origin, but studying a Post-gradutate in Environmental Law. It is my desire to re-locate back to Kenya and perhaps be a Lecturer in Law, at a school or University or work for an nternaitional Orgainisation, anything to be able to return to Kenya. It is sad, that for a non-kenyan citizen, it is difficult to get a work permit and all the hassles that go with it. Any help or advie offered shall be most appreciated. Keep up the fantastic work, friends.

I am so glad I have found out about your web page. I am trying to find my birth mother and this may be a good place to start. I was born in Mombassa in 1955 in the then known as " European Hospital " which is now the Mombassa General as far as I know. I know nothing about my birth mother, so am asking people who may have friends or family who lived in Kenya at that time and who know of an adoption having taken place, to please contact me. I believe her surname may be Walsh / Walch / Welsh or something like that. I know it's a long shot, but who knows.
Keep up with the site. It's great. Kenya is a lovely country and I wish I could go back to visit it again.
Thank you

Hi there, my daughter (Grade 4) is doing a project on Kenya - loved this site - so many links -- I was born in Kenya (1966) and went to school to Consolata in Westlands and then to Loreto Convent Msongari (girls school) next to St. Mary's (boys school) - left kenya in 1980 to come to Canada - I haven't been back yet -- One day! - Does anyone remember me? I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for letting us post these here - it really is interesting to read all these comments -- Cheers! Caroline

An excellent website. Full of useful information at differing levels. I am a school teacher in Derbyshire, England, and I am just about to start a project about Kenya with my class of 6/7 year olds. It is a new topic for me and I am looking for inspiration and ideas as I must admit I don't know the first thing about Kenya. I need to stay at least two steps ahead of the children!!! You site has given me lots to think about, and I thank you both very much.

Thank you for a very interresting "Kenya Page". You must have fulltime work to do it. Don´t you?
I´am looking for organisations who work with street children. Some of them (like SOS "children villages" ) had I found on your page. But if you know more so please send me the address or their´s e-mail. Next year I´am planning to go to mombasa or Kisumu two or three month´s just to talk to street children and ask them if they want some help or something. Maybee there is someone who wants to learn reading and writing. I´am well aware of street children´s needs. Here in Sweden I made an essay at the University to figure out if there was any street children in Sweden.....and there was. But here is the social system which shall avoid that. So I can´t compare whith children from all over the world. Any way....if you have any information about it so please send it. Otherwise I can understand if your time is not enough for that.
Lots of Thank´s from Agneta.

Hi there,
Just bounced into your page, currently trying to do my bit in the villages around Kenya. Been importing from Tabaka, Wamunyu and Bunyala - yes Bunyala! for one year now. Trying to oust the euntreprenuers that I have seen so much of for the past few years. Hope the HEAD of this goverment starts to put back some of the SWISS money into roads, hospitals and education - out in the sticks - and alleviate the ongoing problem at the crossing of the Trans Noiya river from Busea. Lets get rid of the tents and allow these people some dignity.

I lived in Kenya from 1977-1988 and have great memories of the country and the people. I'm originally from The Netherlands and returned to go to University, always with the intention of going back to Kenya some day. I am now a medical doctor and am currently training to be a general practitioner. Your site has made me wonder if I should practice in Kenya. Perhaps one day. I'm looking for friends from my time in that lovely country. I went to school in Nairobi (St Mary's boys school 1977-1982, Nairobi Academy 1982-84) and Nakuru (Greensteds Private School 1984-1988). My Dad worked for the Dutch Foreign Aid Programme (Kiberigwe irrigation scheme near Nyeri and later the Potato cold store project at Molo in the Rift Valley. We lived in Nairobi and Nakuru. I would love to hear from people who might have recognized me from this information. I am specifically looking for my best friend Branko (Branchi) Ng'inja, Simon and Peter Kizito, Tony Cooper, Peter Maitwe, Emma Rossi, Victoria and all my other friends. Anuj Shah are you out there?. Please feel free to send me an e-mail.

This is a nice web-site. I spent six months in Kenya doing work with Telkom Kenya Limited (formerly Posts & Telecom..). I mainly stayed in Nairobi. I did get to visit Lake Naivasha and Naivasha town, Mt. Longonot, and Nyeri. I found Kenyans to be a warm and beautiful people. I really feel for the "plight" of the Kenyans-dealing with their corrupt and backward government. I will return soon and I am looking forward to my return.

Only one question: what is a typical boy or girl's name in Kenya?

Well done, Tim and Lara on a very enjoyable and informative site. I am originally from the UK and spent my childhood in the great country, Kenya. I have a real love for the country and her people - I suppose you can call me a Kenya-phile ! I went back last year, and hope to return soon. I shall be following your site with much interest. I will be backing Kenya in the marathons at this year's Olympic Games here in Sydney.
If anyone from Kenya ( or anyone who lived there ) would like to correspond with me, that would be great.

My childhood dream was to go to Kenya & it took 40 years to get there.Everyone thought that once I had been I would get over it but I didn't, I just wanted to go back. It took me another 11 years and I still love it. In that time I kept up a correspondence with a Kenyan teacher in Eldoret and when we went back in Dec 1999 no one could have felt more welcome or loved than we did. It is a wonderul country full of very generously hearted people. I am a nurse and hope to return in a couple of years to do some voluntary work for a couple of months. Thank you so mch for your site, it is so comforting to be able to hear and recall what goes on in Kenya. Thank you.

I went to Kenya this summer with the Experiment for International Living, a program for high schoolers that founded the idea of a "homestay" as teh true way tot learn about another culture. Myself and 19 other Americans spent time in Nairobi, Lake Naivasha, climbed Mt. Longonut, stayed on Lamu island and built a latrine for a local primary school on MAnda Island and stayed with families in Luanda as well as a safari to the Masai Mara. Though we encountered very little materially, we saw true appreciation for life and the strongest code of hospitality that we had ever seen. I hope more people will travel to KEnya and other african countries through teh backdoor and not just "on safari" to really see how unique Kenya is.

I was part of a crew of 8 from my church who, with the help of the local people, built an eighty foot long wood truss and cable susension bridge for people and cattle near Kipkaren. We accomplished the task in 11 days in February, 1999. We are making plans to return in late June, 2000 to build a water line, two greenhouses and a dormitory. Some work is again in Kipkaren, the rest in Ilula. I fell in love with the country and the people, especially those in the outlying villages. Nice site, it has been very helpful in gathering information for those of us who have or will be soon visiting Kenya. What's happening in June, July and August of 2000? In addition to the great animal migrations, are there any sites or events worth seeing?

This is a response to the idiot with the "tour guide" email. You are truly a disgrace to both your country and the people that you supposedly represent. It is interesting the number of Kenyans that have read and enjoyed the site. It is interesting that you reside in the US, one of those foreign countries you seem to so greatly despise. It is also interesting to note while you hide behind such "intellect", your grammar is appalling and the word posers has been out of fashion longer than I am sure you have been in the US. By your very email you perpetuate the image of Africans being unedecuated and simple minded and I assure you that neither of these statements are true.
